March of the Goblins and Meat or Treat share the spotlight in Diablo IV, giving players a reason to chase Treasure Goblins while working through a ten-rank reward track. If you're after more D4 items, crafting materials or a Resplendent Spark, the Goblin Altar in Kyovashad is where you'll keep an eye on your progress. The two events overlap, so you can pursue the same rewards while dealing with the Halloween surprises from Meat or Treat.
Getting Started at the Altar
Head to the left of the Kyovashad waypoint and look for the Goblin Altar. It shows your current rank and lets you collect rewards, but it won't send them to you automatically. Drop by after a session so you don't leave anything behind. The track appeared on October 27, a day before the event began, and goblin kills on that day didn't count. Progress started with patch 3.2.4 on October 28. The first rank takes 600 reputation, and kills across Sanctuary count, whether you're running dungeons or spending time in Helltide.
Rewards Worth Picking Up Early
Every rank gives you a Goblin Gift. The first three contain Magic rewards and materials; ranks 4 through 6 offer Rare gifts with Tempering Manuals; ranks 7 through 10 bring Legendary gifts. Even-numbered ranks add something extra. Baron's Gift at rank 2 supplies gold, Ector's Gift at rank 4 holds crafting materials, and Murl's Gift at rank 6 contains Murmuring Obols. At rank 8, Prym's Gift provides gem fragments and runes. These named gifts also raise the odds of Treasure Bags dropping from goblins, with the bonuses stacking. Claim them as you go and you'll have more time to benefit.
Making the Most of Each Run
Meat or Treat adds special shrines and Infernal Butchers to the hunt, so chasing a goblin can get messy in a hurry. If the Butcher keeps catching you out, try a difficulty you can handle comfortably. Reputation comes from the kill, not the difficulty setting. Infernal Hordes is another option when you want to find goblins in groups. The Total Chaos perk makes Chaos Waves appear more often, though you'll receive one fewer Infernal Offering per wave. A Treasure Goblin wave can put plenty of targets in front of you at once.
Keep an Eye on the Event Timer
There wasn't a published end date in a dedicated event announcement, so check the in-game timer each session rather than assuming you have plenty of time. Players collecting Diablo IV Items should also remember to return to the altar when they reach rank 10. Fedric's Gift includes a Resplendent Spark and runes, while the track also awards the Regalia of the Sacred Creed horse armor and the March of the Goblins emblem.
