Question about p5general and xim matrix

Hi, I received my P5General yesterday and it wasn't working when I tried to use it with XIM Matrix. I read that I need to update XIM to the latest version and I wanted to know if I also need to update the P5General. Or will it work just by updating XIM? I don't have a computer right now, so I'll have to go to a friend's house to do it, and it would be better if I could do it all at once.
I hope someone can help me.

1:  xim matrix must update to latest firmware
2: p5g no need update,   but it can work too if you want update p5g
