In Path of Exile 2, Veilpiercer is most valuable when repeatedly applying curses interrupts your damage sequence. Its defining benefit is a transfer condition, not a room-wide aura: when an enemy carrying a curse you inflicted dies, that curse spreads to enemies within 3 metres. The ring therefore rewards compact packs and a kill order that puts a convenient target beside tougher threats. If you are weighing a character upgrade against other spending, compare the ring's practical effect with the options represented by Path of Exile 2 Currency rather than assuming its unique effect makes it an automatic choice. The key question is whether your regular fights keep enemies close at the moment your target falls.

Make the first kill count

Use a nearby enemy as your opening target when it can be defeated quickly and other threats are already within range. Apply the curse you want to spread, then finish that target before the group separates. This approach can save repeated casts during a dense encounter, while still letting you focus your main damage on the enemies that matter most. It is especially useful for builds whose combat rhythm suffers when they have to stop and curse every fresh target. The ring does not remove the need to choose a target, though: killing an isolated enemy wastes the transfer opportunity, and a slow first kill gives the pack more time to move.

Let ordinary movement create the right spacing instead of trying to arrange every enemy perfectly. When a compact group is already closing in, take the convenient kill; when opponents are spread out, keep fighting normally rather than spending time herding them together. The curse reaches only enemies within 3 metres when the cursed target dies, so a successful transfer depends on their positions at that moment. It is not a way to cover an entire room from one kill. This makes the ring less reliable in encounters where enemies approach from different directions or your target moves away from the rest of the group.

Measure proximity against the ring slot

Veilpiercer also grants 1 Dark Whisper each second while a cursed enemy is in your Presence, plus 20-40% increased damage with Hits against targets in your Presence. Both benefits make distance part of the decision: staying near a dangerous enemy just to maintain an advantage can cost more than it gains. The Hit modifier also deserves a build-specific check. If your main damage comes from hits, it may support the ring's close-range role; if you rely mainly on damage over time, do not count it as a universal increase. Curses you inflict can affect Hexproof enemies, which can help curse-dependent damage or control remain useful, but the chosen curse still needs to suit your setup.

The supporting bonuses are 7-13% Chaos Resistance, 60-100 additional maximum Mana, and 15-25 additional Intelligence. These can help with character needs, but they do not make the ring free: equipping it means giving up another ring's modifiers. Test it in a familiar area with your skills unchanged, and pay attention to how often the transfer actually catches nearby enemies, how much time it saves on reapplying curses, and whether the Presence conditions fit your positioning. Keep other gear plans in view, including any resources you want to reserve for POE 2 Orb of Alchemy, then keep Veilpiercer if its smoother pack clearing outweighs the lost ring stats; otherwise, choose the slot for the needs your build faces most often.
